At Mary Elizabeth, we realize that importance of skilled care for your family and friends. Continuing the Mary Elizabeth tradition of exceptional medical and nursing attention, our staff is selected on the basis of their geriatric experience concerning the emotional needs of residents. Dedicated to specialized care, our team of health experts develop individual care plans to meet the medical, social and cultural needs of each resident. As an extended family, our staff also recognizes the initial period of transition to Mary Elizabeth. We take an active role in easing the process of providing our own generous dose of loving care.

The well-being of our loved ones is important to all of us, and sometimes the decisions we have to make on their behalf can be difficult. Our residents’ families play an active role in the care of their loved ones. In a comforting, home-like setting, we bring family and friends together through Resident Care Conferences. Children visit frequently through a variety of recreational activities involving the Mary Elizabeth community. Time with pets is also welcome at Mary Elizabeth. We have our own resident pets, and friend and family pets are always welcome to visit.

In an environment as comforting as home, Mary Elizabeth offers a menu of nutritious meals. Our dining room is both elegant and cheerful with an ambiance of pleasant company and good conversation. On request we also serve meals in resident rooms and provide accommodations for private dining with family and friends. The dietary staff at Mary Elizabeth prepares meals catered to individual requests and preferences, and residents who enjoy cooking are also invited to plan and prepare these special meals. To occasionally vary dining experiences, our residents enjoy hosting special dining events such as teas, garden luncheons and barbecues.

Compassionate, Specialized Care For Your Loved One
While Mary Elizabeth has all the benefits of a large health-care center, our specialty is individual, personal medical attention for your loved ones. We offer our residents a full range of excellent medical services, including:

• Physical, occupational and speech therapies
• Dental, podiatry, and ophthalmology services
• Comprehensive rehabilitation programs
• Intravenous therapy to residents needing hydration, temporary nutrition or medication
• Hospice care, in agreement with the Hospice Program of Southeastern Connecticut
• Oxygen therapy and portable x-ray
• Respite care

To complement our extensive medical services, we also provide our residents with a beauty salon/barber shop and laundry services.

Relaxation and Recreation
From greenhouse gardening to cultural entertainment, we offer residents many recreational activities. Popular activities at Mary Elizabeth include exercise classes, art therapy, craft designing, holiday parties and trips to outdoor concerts. To meet the religious preferences of our residents, various worship services are also available.
