Apple Health Care Mission Statement
It is our mission to change the culture of nursing home care by recognizing and nurturing the human spirit and individuality of every resident and employee who calls an Apple Health Care facility their home.
A Message from Executive Vice President, Brian Bedard
In preparation for this letter I thought about what I wanted each individual who visits our website to know about our company, including our past, present and future. Our history is simple. Twenty-five years ago Apple's president and owner Brian Foley embarked on a mission to change the culture of nursing homes. He had a vision of a healthcare company that would give each resident the care and respect they deserve in a compassionate and homelike environment. His vision has become our reality. Today, Apple Health Care owns and manages 24 skilled nursing homes in which over 3,200 employees and 2,000 residents can say that they are proud to work and live.
Apple is privately-held and locally owned, meaning that unlike other providers who must operate to serve their stockholders, Apple, in contrast, is able to serve its residents and family members first. With 24 homes, Apple is large enough to offer a full spectrum of elder health services and small enough to ensure quality management from the corporate headquarters in Avon, Connecticut.
Apple Health Care has been rated the top private provider of nursing home care in the country by a leading consumer magazine. I believe this distinction was achieved through our relentless desire to provide our residents with exceptional clinical care in an environment that feels like home. We call our home-like environment and compassionate approach to caregiving "Better Life."
Our commitment to this philosophy and our recognition of the critical need for a more human based approach to long term care has enabled us to create communities of caregiving unlike any other in the industry today. Our transition to a social model of care is evident by simply walking through our homes. Residents continue to live their lives according to the same patterns they enjoyed in their own homes - they sleep late, eat early, garden, spend time with pets, cook, participate in community councils or simply spend time talking with their primary caregiver. This transition from a medical to a social model of care has created small, cozy and unique environments that have proven to be enjoyable places in which to work and live.
Our employees continue to be the source of our strength. Their expertise, dedication and most importantly, compassion towards the residents we serve sustain us. With the lowest rates of employee turnover in the industry, Apple is poised to deliver the most consistent care possible. Apple employees support our culture and continue to enable us to achieve our national recognition in the long-term care industry. As we move forward, I believe that it will be our commitment to our Better Life philosophy and our Core Values that will enable us to recruit the most compassionate and skilled caregivers in the health care industry.
We at Apple Health Care are dedicated to our organization's Core Values and Better Life philosophy, both of which promote compassion across the continuum of care. Whether you are aspiring to work for a company that cares as much as you do, or searching for a home for a loved one, I encourage you to visit us and experience "the Apple difference."
